Kimber Granden
The hands behind the lens
Hey, I'm Kimber. I've been carrying a camera around since high school, back when photography was simply something I loved doing. In 2021, I decided to really go for it. Since then, Velvet Blooms Photography has grown into something so much bigger than just taking pictures — a creative outlet, a way to connect with people, and honestly, one of my favorite parts of who I am.
I'm a wife to my high-school sweetheart, a mom to three wild boys, and a firm believer that life is messy, loud, beautiful, and goes by WAY too fast. I'm all about the genuine stuff — the movement, the laughter, the messy hair, the little glances, the connection, the moments that don't feel overly posed or forced.
I'm basically your photographer + personal hype girl + professional "okay, now do this" person all in one. I'll help with outfits, give you prompts instead of stiff poses, make you laugh when you're nervous, and absolutely tell you when you look amazing. I want you to leave your session feeling confident, seen, and maybe even a little surprised by how much fun you had.
What makes me different
Capture a feeling, not just a picture
I don't want to simply take a picture of you. I want to capture a feeling. Past clients have told me that when they look through their galleries, they're taken right back to that moment — they remember how their kids laughed, how tiny their baby was, how they felt in that season of life.
I'm not interested in photos that are just pretty enough to scroll past. I want the kind that make you stop, smile, laugh — the kind that make your heart hurt a little because you realize how fast time has gone. Beautiful photographs are wonderful. But photographs that take you back? Those are the ones you keep coming back to.
The name
How Velvet Blooms came to be
Velvet Blooms came to me in a dream. I wanted something that felt like me — a little moody, a little romantic, soft but strong, something that represented growth. Velvet: soft, rich, moody, a little unexpected. Blooms: because we're constantly growing, changing, becoming new versions of ourselves. It has grown into what I hope every session feels like: soft, honest, a little moody, completely you, and always blooming.
